An insight into the life of the average nerd

5.6.08 by Deus

I, being a rather average individual who spends much of one’s time in the process of contemplation and study, hereafter known as “nerd”, think that I have a certain insight into the matter.

There’s the issue of dedicating one’s time and energy to study. I think that that is a very honorable cause. In the long run, education (as opposed to shopping, partying, “hanging out”, ingesting alcoholic beverages, et cetera) helps. Of course, the other homo sapiens in one’s environment may not view it as such and can be very abusive when they believe that it will enhance their social image if they publicly denounce the nerd’s point of view. Thankfully, I am not part of such an institution, but that does not mean that others are not.

Then I must point out the issue of general friendship. The average nerd appears to get along quite well with most, yet lacks the kind of social life that most others have (i.e. the aforementioned shopping, partying, hanging out, boozing, and so on). This is most likely due to the necessity to keep the right mindset for school, as well as the fact that the average nerd considers education to be more important than such trivial aspects of teenage life as dating and large-scale socialization.

That would be all for now.
